Национальный центр клинической морфологической диагностики - The laboratory carries

The laboratory carries out complex morphological examinations, including:

  • histological,
  • cytological,
  • immunohistochemical,
  • immunocytochemical,
  • molecular genetics.

Examinations meet the applicable standards of Europe and North America; certified under quality management system ISO 9001-2008 (ISO 9001: 2008)

The laboratory provides an opportunity to carry out histological and cytological examinations of operational and biopsy material of any complexity regardless of the nature and localization of the pathological process using a fully automated system of preparation of histological, cytological, immunohistochemical samples.

Runtime of examinations:

  • to conventional and liquid-based cytology - up to 24 hours,
  • histological - 48 hours,
  • immunohistochemical - 2-4 days.
  • molecular genetic - 2-10 days.

Laboratory uses methods of liquid-based cytology, PAP-test and immunocytochemical examinations, including with HPV-associated diseases of the cervix (the definition of oncoprotein p16 and proliferative activity index Ki67).

Complex morphological examination of endocrine pathology with the use of conventional and liquid cytology, histology, cell block technique, IHC:

  • Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) of thyroid gland - up to 31000 patients per year
  • Surgical samples of thyroid gland - up to 6000 cases
  • Surgical samples of parathyroid glands - up to 450 cases
  • Surgical samples of adrenal glands - up to 150 cases
  • FNA and surgical samples of pancreas - up to 120 cases:

The laboratory conducts standardized examinations of biopsies of kidney tissue, liver, gastrointestinal tract, breast, bone marrow, lymph nodes, skin, tumors of various localization obtained by needle or incisional biopsy.

The laboratory carries out specialized morphological examinations of kidney biopsies (incl. transplanted):

  • Light microscopy (hematoxylin and eosin stain, periodic acid–Schiff (PAS), Jones’ silver stain, Masson's trichrome stain, Congo red (by indication)
  • immunofluorescence/immunohistochemistry (IgA, IgG,  IgM, C1q, C3, fibrinogen, light chains kappa&lambda), immunohistochemical examinations AA-amyloid, IgG4, С4d, Polyoma-SV40, Parvo-B19, EBV, myoglobin;
  • electron microscopy (x1500 – 20000).

The laboratory carries out molecular genetic studies using PCR-RT Technologies and sequencing of the materials of cell blocks and in tissue biopsies of tumors with certain mutations of the genes BRAF, RAS (K-, N-, H-), EGFR, ALK, PDL-1, BRCA-1/2 and others.

The laboratory carries out  consultative examinations of material for patients receiving initial examination in other medical institutions; there is an opportunity to attract leading experts of the Russian Federation for advice.

There is a possibility to present the results of morphological examinations on the day of execution and discuss them with your doctor using modern telecommunications (including videoconferencing).

The company cooperates with 75 major government and commercial medical institutions of St. Petersburg, Russia, CIS countries, UK, US.
